A 7-year-old cyclist had to be airlifted by a medical helicopter this Thursday after sustaining injuries in an accident on the TF-21, near the Cañadas del Teide in the municipality of La Orotava, as stated by the Coordinating Emergency Centre and security (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:51 p.m., when the 1-1-2 control room received an alert regarding a collision between a cyclist and a pedestrian on the aforementioned road, and that the cyclist required medical assistance. Consequently, CECOES promptly activated the necessary emergency resources to respond to the situation.
Upon arrival, the personnel from the Immediate Emergency Response Team (ERIE) provided initial aid to the cyclist at the scene, who exhibited moderate trauma.
Simultaneously, the Civil Guard halted traffic on the road to allow a medical SUC helicopter, which had been dispatched, to land safely. The Local Police and Firefighters assisted the emergency services as well.
