Santa Cruz de Tenerife 12 Feb. (Europa Press) –
National Police officers have apprehended a wanted individual sought by the Czech Republic authorities in the southern region of Tenerife, in connection with various crimes involving advanced computer technology, forgery of payment methods, and fraud that impacts the financial interests of European communities, which could result in a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
The request for his location and arrest was received on 28 January 2025. Following this, the officers commenced a comprehensive analysis of the information available, necessitating a significant deployment of resources to track down his whereabouts, owing to the strict security measures the fugitive employed to evade detection, as noted by the police force in a statement.
A few days later, intelligence was acquired regarding the potential location of the fugitive in apartments situated in the southern part of the island.
Specialist agents from the National Police proceeded to the location, where they observed a couple whose descriptions matched those of the fugitive. After verifying his identity, they promptly moved to effect his arrest.
The fugitive has since been forwarded to the relevant judicial authority for the initiation of the extradition process requested by the Czech Republic.
