Officers from the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife apprehended a minor, aged under 17 and known as Macv, last Sunday for allegedly committing an offence against public health after being caught with several pieces of hashish, a gram of the substance, and various amounts of small change. This operation commenced due to a preventive patrol conducted in the lower section of the Zurita bridge by the police officers from the Operations Unit, which was subsequently supported by the canine unit of the Santacrucera police.
The Local Police carry out routine patrols across various locations frequently frequented for the consumption of narcotics. Coincidentally, while one of these patrols was navigating the vicinity of the lower area of the Zurita bridge last Sunday, officers noticed a group of young people engaging in hashish consumption. Upon seeing the police, one individual, Macv, attempted to evade the officers and exit the area, discarding a small piece of hashish onto a wall, but was promptly intercepted by the police.
In light of the number of youths who had called for assistance from another patrol and the presence of the canine unit, the arrested individual was identified, and a preliminary search was conducted, uncovering the gram of hashish in his possession along with 45 euros in various denominations.
Notably, the canine handler deployed to the scene, alongside one of the youngest dogs from their latest Belgian Malinois litter, “Boby,” discovered a concealed stash of nearly 45 grams of hashish hidden atop a wall at the site. Given all these circumstances, the minor was taken into custody. Another youth was also found with an additional piece of hashish, and an administrative procedure was initiated for possession of narcotic substances.
The officers transported the detainee to the police station, informed the parent of the young person, and reported the situation to the relevant judicial authorities.
