Firefighters in Tenerife have successfully extinguished a fire that broke out this afternoon on the second floor of a residential building in the Ofra area of Tenerife’s capital. Neighbours were evacuated as a precaution, according to local police sources speaking to Efe.
Several individuals required treatment from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) due to smoke inhalation, as per the details provided by Tenerife Firefighters.
The 1-1-2 Canary Islands service received multiple alerts regarding a fire at the aforementioned property, situated on Bencheque Street, at 13:26 hours.
Currently, the cause of the fire in the affected flat remains undetermined, with nearly the entire interior having been consumed by flames. Firefighters continue to work in the area, focusing on ventilation efforts.
A technician from the Urban Planning Department of the City of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has attended the scene to evaluate potential structural damage to the building.
Sources consulted by the Local Police indicate that the family residing in the flat where the blaze began has been provided with an alternative accommodation.
