The LS tribe group emerged victorious last night as the top winner of the Chicharrero 2025 Carnival Festival, securing the first two accolades in the presentation and interpretation categories, respectively.
The dance competition, featuring a total of 16 groups, attracted a full house of 4,800 attendees who cheered on the various ensembles as they performed their choreographies. This year, most of the performances drew inspiration from African rhythms, the theme for this edition of the carnival.
While the LS tribe triumphed in the two main categories, the second award for interpretation went to the La Vica company, which made a notable debut in the choreographic grouping contest. Loli Pérez achieved third place, and Odalis claimed a second prize as well.
In the presentation category, Loli Pérez received the second prize, while Wild Dance secured third place. The accolade for second best costume was awarded to Crew of Dreams.
In total, over 1,000 dancers participated in this contest, showcasing the choreographies they had meticulously prepared over recent months, as well as their impressive costumes for this year’s carnival.
The grand stage of the Carnival of Santa Cruz was illuminated at 5:00 pm yesterday to welcome the participating groups: La Vica, Crew of Dreams, Wild Dance, Crazy Dancer, Ibaute, Andreía Acosta Sports Club, Odali, Onys Dance School, Star Dance, Moana, LS Tribe, V Dance, Loli Pérez, Nameless Project, Arona Cultural Board of Trustees, and Ballet Dance, who performed in that order following the draw conducted last December.
Triplet
This year, the LS tribe’s choreographic group secured the interpretation award for the third consecutive time, in addition to winning the presentation award in this carnival edition with their Narnia-themed fantasy of a hidden kingdom, under the direction of Juan González Estévez.
The panel of judges for the presentation category included María del Mar Martorell Mensugo, a fashion stylist; Javier Aguilar Afonso, a designer from Ananas Wear; and Christ Rodríguez Torres, a fashion and textile technician. Meanwhile, the interpretation judges were Leila Rodríguez Hernández, a choreographer, dancer, and gymnastics teacher; Cristofer Fernández Arteaga, an international dancer and choreographer; María Vianney Morales González, a choreographer and modern dance instructor; María Odinokova, a professional dancer with international ballet companies; and Daniel Jesús García Gómez, an urban dance choreographer and member of Spain’s Ballroom scene.
The Choreographic Group Festival, which achieved remarkable attendance this year, was broadcast live via Malle Atelevisión, TV Day, Tenerife Plus Televisión, and Channel 4, along with a delayed signal on Canarian television.
Puchi Méndez, Jose Marrero, and Naomí Vera were the hosts of the event.
