Officers from the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) of the Civil Guard have reported ten motorists who were driving through a protected area in Tenerife, one of whom was operating a stolen motorcycle, without the necessary documentation and lacking a driving licence.
As announced on Monday by the Civil Guard, the agents caught this group of motorcyclists while they were on the track known as “Toro Cabeza”, which is part of the protected landscape of the Lagunetas, in the municipality of El Sauzal, outside the network of forest tracks designated by the Cabildo de Tenerife.
Following appropriate checks and identifications of each motorist, the agents discovered that one of the motorcycles had no registration or documentation plate, in addition to having the chassis number removed, and had been reported stolen in August last year from a garage in La Laguna.
In relation to the aforementioned criminal activities, legal proceedings have been initiated, accusing the rider of the stolen motorcycle—a 26-year-old man—of three offences: theft with force, falsification of documents, and operating a vehicle without ever having obtained a driving licence.
Furthermore, the officers issued a total of 10 administrative fines to the remaining motorists for violations of the Natural Heritage and Biodiversity Law for travelling through a protected zone, which could result in penalties of up to 3,000 euros.
