Seven new playgrounds are set to be established in Santa Cruz de Tenerife this year. This announcement was made yesterday by the Councillor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife (PP), who highlighted that two of these new children’s areas have already been inaugurated: those at Plaza de El Pilar and Chimisay, which opened yesterday in the South Costa District.
An innovative play area featuring dinosaurs, part of Lot 1 of the planned children’s parks in the city, includes the parks at El Mercado and Uncle Pino, which are already operational. The execution of this project covers 1,500 square metres, with an investment of €565,000.
The mayor expressed that additional children’s parks will be opened this year, equipped with thematic zones and shaded spaces, including one in Mama Loli Square, located in Cuesta Piedra, with an anticipated expenditure of approximately €160,000. Furthermore, another play area on José de Zárate and Penichet Street in Salud-La Salle will see an investment of €200,000. Two more parks will be added in García Sanabria and La Granja, with a combined budget for both projects approaching €1 million. Lastly, a new children’s park is planned for Chamberí, totalling €100,000.
Concerning the new play areas in both parks throughout the city, Tarife noted that in García Sanabria, the sand area will undergo renovations with new paving and cutting-edge play modules; while in La Granja, a new section for children will be established, similar to the one at Parque de la Hoya in the Galician neighbourhood.
