Santa Cruz de Tenerife 5 Feb. (Europa Press) –
The leader of the Socialist Group in the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, asserted on Wednesday that the investment of 800 million euros for the island’s airports, introduced on Tuesday, is the outcome of efforts made during his tenure in leading the corporation to enhance the infrastructure utilised by the community.
“This isn’t about airports to attract more tourists, but rather about airports that offer improved services. That is how we secured the 800 million that will be allocated to projects at both airports, Tenerife North and Tenerife South,” he elaborated in a statement.
Both the president and CEO of AENA, Maurici Lucena, along with the Executive Vice President of the State Mercantile Society, Javier Marín, highlighted during the investment presentation “the perseverance of Pedro Martín, advocating for and pushing forward other investment initiatives in various locations across Spain.”
“In Tenerife, we have made progress,” they remarked, noting the necessity to “acknowledge the drive of the previous Cabildo de Tenerife,” as “Pedro Martín was instrumental in fostering the consensus that enabled us to present what we are unveiling today.”
Martín emphasised that throughout the previous mandate there were “numerous discussions” with AENA aimed at enhancing Tenerife’s airport. The goal of the forthcoming works is to upgrade the infrastructure we depend on.
