The Ayuntamiento de Puerto de la Cruz has sanctioned the public employment offer for this year, following the implementation of the municipal budget on the 1st and the review of staffing levels. This decision arises from a backdrop of staff departures in the Consistory due to retirements and leaves of absence.
The Personnel Management Department proposed an offer that encompasses 15 positions, adhering to legal stipulations and contingent upon the replacement rate. These positions are aimed at sectors deemed a priority, including Local Police, public resource management, legal advice, as well as direct citizen support and service provision.

Additionally, the municipality has assigned Environmental Education duties to Bencomia, SLU for the formulation of an action plan aimed at controlling and eradicating cat tail (Pennisetum Setaceum). The Department for Sustainable City, in collaboration with the Department for Works and Services, clarified that this plan will serve as a comprehensive framework for eliminating this invasive species throughout the municipality.
The efforts of Bencomia Environmental Education will involve conducting a detailed assessment of this plant’s impact and devising strategies for its management. The proposal will unfold in various phases, commencing with an in-depth evaluation of the current circumstances through field studies, discussions with key stakeholders, and specialised consultancy work. The initial outcome will be a technical report that provides a digital map of the affected locations, detailing surface area, condition levels, accessibility of each site, and their relation to public or private spaces.
