Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 5 Feb. (Europa Press) –
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, and the vice-president, Lope Afonso, have concurred on Wednesday to underscore the “dialogue spirit” of the new general secretary of the PSOE Tenerife, Tamara Raya, who succeeds Senator Pedro Martín.
In a press briefing to report on the agreements made by the Governing Council, Dávila emphasized the moderation of Raya’s rhetoric at the helm of the Tenerife socialists, offering her a “helping hand” to collaborate for the benefit of the island.
“My assessment is favourable, and I wish her all the best. Here, she will find several allies to work in support of Tenerife,” she articulated, while also noting that she is the first general secretary of the Tenerife PSOE and a likely electoral candidate for the council.
“I am truly delighted for her; from a woman’s perspective, I believe that the presence of women in party leadership roles is crucial,” she commented.
Afonso, hailing from Puerto de la Cruz, praised Raya as a “very sensible individual” with a robust political background across municipal, national, and regional spheres.
“I believe she is someone with whom we can discuss matters in depth, addressing island issues, combined with the desire expressed by the president for her to succeed in her new role, so that together we can continue contributing to enhancing the island,” he stated.
