The influx of tourists is on the rise as they flock to experience the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival. This surge has led to a notable spike in the costs of flight tickets and accommodations, such as a prominent booking site offering a double room for a staggering 7,024 euros in a central hotel for just one night.
This specific offer, valid for the night of March 1 to 2, the first Saturday of the Santa Cruz Carnival, specifies that it is a double room for single occupancy, priced at 5,453 euros for members of that platform. Notably, this price includes breakfast.
On the same platform, additional central hotels are listing rooms priced over 1,000 euros, emphasising that there is “very limited availability” in the capital of Tenerife for those dates.
Nearly 3,000 euros for a stay on the first Carnival weekend in Santa Cruz
During the previous year’s Santa Cruz Carnival, a room was available for approximately 3,000 euros for the first weekend.
The inquiry was made for two guests for the weekend from February 9 to 11, yielding proposals for two accommodations in the city adjacent to the Guimerá Theatre, priced at 2,760 and 2,746 euros.
This year, with a room rate of 7,000 euros, it remains unclear if this is an error, as the hotel typically does not permit single-night bookings during that period, or if it is merely a “special offer” on the website in question.
