Santa Cruz de Tenerife 4 Feb. (Europa Press) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife is allocating 604,764 euros for the enhancement and surfacing of the rural pathway Vereda del Pinito, situated in the municipality of La Victoria de Acentejo. This initiative forms part of the rural infrastructure programme promoted by the insular authority, aimed at improving access to agricultural plots and preventing the degradation of our traditional agrarian landscape.
The primary sector councillor, Valentín González, articulates in a statement that “this initiative adheres to a series of criteria that align with conservation goals, environmental care, and the practical needs of farmers.”
The Vereda del Pinito pathway, found in the Mediaías region of La Victoria de Acentejo, is immersed within a predominantly agricultural setting, primarily devoted to vineyard cultivation.
The operation undertaken by the Cabildo, through the primary sector division, is set to be executed over a period of 8 months and addresses a request from the municipality itself to enhance, by widening and surfacing, a pathway that measures approximately 2,930 meters in length.
Currently, three sections have been completed, collectively spanning 667 meters. With the implementation of the fourth phase of this project, a 222-meter section of the path will be opened for traffic, which presently accommodates only pedestrian movement.
Furthermore, the anticipated enhancements will bolster the connectivity of the rural road network in the locality, thereby reducing transit times between farms as it serves as a route linking various paths.
The project initially outlines the establishment of all necessary containment and reinforcement structures to ensure the roadway’s stability and widen its profile using inorganic pigments to promote its visual integration within the landscape.
Subsequently, metal-wood barriers will be installed at all curves and sections where there is a risk of vehicles veering off the roadway.
