The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, via the autonomous agency for festivities and recreational activities (Oafar), has introduced a promotional announcement for Carnival 2025 for the first time in its history. The video, which runs for approximately two minutes, carries the slogan “The Carnival we are”, signifying the collective spirit that fuels the most significant celebration in the Canary Islands.
This campaign intends to highlight the dedication and commitment that underpins the Carnival, reminding the public that it is more than merely a celebration, and that the essence of the Carnival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife thrives due to the individual contributions of numerous people working together to create the finest carnival in the world.
Throughout the two-minute video, produced by the audiovisual company The Flight of the Rhinoceros, viewers can observe the Carnival groups rehearsing, the Oafar team, as well as seamstresses, musicians, and artists. The focus is placed on the individuals, the tradition, and the fervour that so many devote to ensure that every February the city shines in all its glory.
According to the Councillor for Fiestas, Javier Caraballero: “With this announcement, we wish to express our gratitude to all the individuals who dedicate their creativity, time, and effort to the Carnival, recognising that it is only through individual contributions that we are able to host the best carnival in the world.” He further states, “It is essential for people to understand the history of this celebration, which is cultural and serves as the backbone of Santa Cruz.”
