Canary Islands’ Time Update for Monday: What You Need to Know

The cloudy spells and the light showers will persist on Monday across the Canary Islands, as per the report from Aemet.

In the coastal waters, winds will be from the Northeast, blowing at 4 or 5, occasionally reaching 6, particularly around the northwest and southeast coastlines, with swells increasing to a strong state in these areas. The sea will be northwest, ranging from 1 to 2 metres initially, then increasing to between 2 and 3 metres from the morning. The forecast for the islands this Monday is outlined as follows:

Lanzarote

Expect intervals of cloud cover with prevailing overcast skies in the early hours, where a low likelihood of light, sporadic rain exists. The afternoon will see predominantly slightly cloudy conditions. Temperatures are predicted to remain relatively stable. A moderate Alisio wind will develop, with stronger gusts in the interior areas during the afternoon. In Reef, the minimum and maximum temperatures anticipated will range from 15 °C to 22 °C.

Fuerteventura

Bringing cloudy periods with a predominance of overcast skies in the earlier part of the day, although the likelihood of light, sporadic rain is low. By the afternoon, clearer skies will prevail. Temperatures are expected to show minimal variation. There will be a moderate Alisio wind with stronger intervals south of Jandía during mid-afternoon. In Puerto del Rosario, the minimum and maximum temperatures projected will be between 16 °C and 21 °C.

Gran Canaria

The northern region will be overcast, with light rain that may locally be moderate at first. From midday, the precipitation will lessen, leading to clearer conditions. In other zones, expect cloudy intervals turning to clearer conditions by the afternoon. Temperatures will remain mostly stable.

A moderate Alisio wind is expected, with gusty periods in southeast and northwest areas, as well as at higher elevations where particularly strong gusts might occur in the early hours. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the planned minimum and maximum temperatures will lie between 17 °C and 21 °C.

Tenerife

Clouds will dominate the north, with occasional light showers that could be moderate locally in the northeast at the start of the day. From midday, the rainfall will subside, resulting in clearer skies. In other regions, expect cloudy intervals, especially during the central hours of the day, apart from at mountainous peaks.

Temperatures will largely remain stable, with slight increases for maxima in central summits. There will be moderate Alisio winds with strong intervals in the southeast aspect and at extreme northwest areas, as well as over central peaks. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the minimum and maximum temperatures forecasted will be between 17 °C and 22 °C.

La Gomera

The northern area will be cloudy with a chance of weak and occasional rains that may be moderate locally at the outset. As the afternoon progresses, the precipitation will decrease and conditions will clear. In other zones, expect cloudy intervals shifting to clearer skies by afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged. A moderate Alisio wind will be felt with strong intervals in the northwest as well as in elevated areas where particularly strong gusts are not ruled out at dawn. In San Sebastián de la Gomera, the anticipated minimum and maximum temperatures will range from 17 °C to 22 °C.

La Palma

In the north and east, expect cloudy conditions accompanied by the likelihood of weak and occasional showers, potentially moderate in northeastern parts. From midday, precipitation will diminish leading to clearer conditions. In other regions, cloudy intervals are anticipated, dominated by cloudiness during the central hours of the day, barring peaks.

Temperatures are likely to show limited changes. The Alisio wind will be moderate with strong intervals in the northwest and over southern slopes, especially at the Pasó region in the early hours. In Santa Cruz de la Palma, the minimum and maximum temperatures are projected to be between 16 °C and 21 °C.

El Hierro

In the north, clouds will persist with a chance of weak and occasional rain, particularly in the middle of the day. By the afternoon, the precipitation should lessen and clearer skies will follow. In other areas, expect cloud intervals shifting to mostly clear towards the day’s end.

Temperatures are anticipated to have small variations. A moderate Alisio wind with strong intervals will be felt in the southeast and extreme northwest slopes. In Valverde, the minimum and maximum temperatures forecasted will be between 13 °C and 17 °C.
