Canarian Coalition Suggests AI Solutions for TF-5 Traffic Congestion

Leaders of the Canarian coalition have designated the implementation of artificial intelligence in the management of TF-5 congestion as a “priority objective” this Saturday. They have also proposed the expansion of the TF1 lanes from San Isidro to Adeje and the addition of a third lane on the northern highway between the airport and La Orotava.

During the Political Convention at the Hotel School, as noted by the party in a statement, the event being private, the road councillor of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Dámso Arteaga, emphasised the need for Access control systems on TF-5, backed by intelligent transport systems (ITS).

He believes this would enhance safety for drivers and facilitate a more efficient transport network, “by managing demand, improving traffic fluidity, and increasing road safety,” he stated.

CC has also pushed for fiscal incentives for residents in less populated municipalities to counteract the population decline observed in recent years.

The debate also underscored the significance of free public transport, which has “prevented 33 million car journeys.”

“In 2024, that number represents 12 million journeys that have not been made in a private vehicle but via the Guagua, thanks to our policies,” remarked the Nationalist Party.
