Santa Cruz de Tenerife 31 Jan (Europa Press) –
Officers from the Civil Guard stationed at the main base in Granadilla de Abona, alongside the Local Police of San Miguel de Abona and with the support of Adeje, have successfully dismantled a drug trafficking ring operating in the southern region of Tenerife as part of the ‘Skip’ operation.
Furthermore, eight individuals have been apprehended, including the individual in charge of the club, the manager, and several workers from the establishments, while three industrial facilities have been shut down where narcotic substances were cultivated and processed.
The operation commenced in May 2024 following alerts regarding a suspicious industrial site in the polygon of the camel.
Consequently, over several weeks, agents from both forces established a coordinated surveillance operation, gathering essential evidence linking the suspects to marijuana cultivation, which enabled the judicial authority to authorise searches at three industrial sites situated in the Industrial Polygon of La Chafiras, where advanced logistics centres for cannabis production were identified.
As a result, a total of 134 kilograms of marijuana buds, 492 cannabis plants at various stages of growth, and 200 grams of hashish were seized.
Additionally, machinery used in production, cash amounting to 2,200 euros, and other materials utilised for drug manufacturing and distribution were confiscated, as reported by the Civil Guard.
During the searches, three counts of electrical fraud concerning the facilities were also uncovered.
The investigation further revealed the presence of a cannabis club located in Adeje, run by the primary suspect, who also presided over the association managing the establishment.
This club acted as a drug sales point, violating existing regulations and thus operating unlawfully.
The inquiry remains ongoing as agents have discovered that this drug trafficking network supplied not only the club but also other establishments located in the southern part of Tenerife.
