SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Jan 29 (Europa Press) –
The Government Council of the Canary Islands has approved on Wednesday the territorial legalisation of a livestock operation situated in the municipality of Ingenio, in Gran Canaria.
This entails the approval of the activity along with its associated structures and facilities of a permanent nature, according to a statement from the Executive.
Consequently, it is stipulated as a condition for such regularisation that relevant actions related to health, environmental conditions, functionality, aesthetic standards, and animal welfare must be carried out within 18 months.
The operation, which has been registered in the Livestock Exports Registry (rega) since August 13, 1997 and is currently operational, complies with the criteria outlined in section 1 of article 5 of Law 6/2009, dated May 6, for territorial legalisation, and has adhered to the required procedure, as detailed in the report from the General Directorate of Livestock.
This marks the initial phase in a series of regularisations being undertaken by the General Directorate of Livestock.
Farms eligible for legalisation must have been constructed prior to 1999 and have successfully completed a series of procedures overseen by the aforementioned Department of the Canarian Government.
These procedures involve councils, municipalities, and other public entities such as the General Directorate of Nature Protection and the General Directorate of Territory Planning.
