Police Crackdown Uncovers Nearly 300 Fake Goods in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

The Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife announced on Wednesday that last Sunday, they confiscated nearly 300 seemingly counterfeit textile items.

This operation comprised two actions, during which five individuals were identified as suspected of wrongdoing, leading to the seizure of the merchandise, according to reports.

The initial police operation took place at a stall located on Darias and Padrón Street, which was adjacent to another stall that lacked the required permit for its operation.

Officers confirmed that they observed sportswear of well-known brands being sold at prices significantly lower than those found in the typical market.

In these scenarios, vendors are required to present invoices for their products; failure to do so results in the identification of the sellers and the confiscation of the goods. In this instance, neither of the two individuals identified were the actual owner of the stall in question.

After the goods were confiscated, a third individual, a woman who claimed to be the owner of the stall and its merchandise, subsequently appeared at the police office, where she was also identified.

The second operation took place two hours later at a stall on José Manuel Guimerá Gurrea Street, where two men operated a stall offering sports clothing from reputable brands at extremely low prices, as reported by the local police.

When questioned about the source of these garments and whether they could provide an invoice for their purchase, both individuals denied having any documentation. The merchandise was subsequently transferred to police units for the completion of seizure documentation, during which all confiscated items were counted and assessed.

All collected information was submitted to the appropriate authorities to ascertain responsibilities concerning this matter, concluded the police.
