Officers from the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife carried out two operations last Sunday in the well-known Tenerife capital trail. As a result of their surveillance and preventative efforts, nearly 300 textile items bearing various brand names were confiscated, all of which appeared to be counterfeit and were intended for sale. These police actions also led to the identification of five individuals responsible for these activities, and all merchandise was seized while the appropriate legal procedures were initiated.
The first police operation occurred at a stall located on Darias and Padrón Street, where an unauthorised stall was found adjacent to an authorised one. The authorities discovered that sportswear from well-known brands was being sold at prices significantly lower than market rates. In such cases, vendors are required to present invoices for their goods; failing to do so results in identification and merchandise seizure. Furthermore, none of the two individuals identified in this instance were the registered owners of the stall in question.
After the goods were taken to the police station, a third individual, a woman claiming to be the owner of the seized stall and its merchandise, also arrived at the police office to verify her identity.
The second operation was executed two hours later at a stall on José Manuel Guimerá Gurrea Street, where two men were running a stall offering sportswear items from prominent brands at suspiciously low prices. When questioned about the origin of these garments and whether they could provide invoices for their purchases, both denied having such documentation. Similarly, the merchandise was confiscated by the police, with appropriate seizure records documented and each item examined and counted.
All gathered information was passed on to the relevant authorities to ascertain accountability in this matter.
