This afternoon, the Plenary Hall of the City of Santa Cruz welcomed the ceremony for the 34 contenders vying for the title of Carnival Queen 2025 in various categories: adult, child, and seniors. The city’s mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, alongside the councillor from the Autonomous Agency for Parties and Recreational Activities (Oafar), Javier Caraballero, and the directors of Las Galas, Jep Meléndez and Daniel Pages, greeted the participants in this year’s competitions.
In his address to the contestants, Bermúdez remarked, “This event is one of the most beautiful and meaningful occasions held annually in this Plenary Hall, as it marks the first time each of you presents yourselves before the media, showcasing the excitement and passion that drives you.” Furthermore, the mayor acknowledged the hard work of sponsors and designers, stating, “Their enthusiasm and dedication ensure that every creation becomes a triumph for our festival.”
Additionally, the Councillor for Fiestas emphasised that “Carnival queens play a crucial role in the festivities, receiving immense affection from the audience,” and took the moment to express gratitude to designers and sponsors for their commitment to preserving such a wonderful tradition. Following the greetings and the presentation of bouquets of flowers, municipal representatives and the queen contenders posed for photographers.
On Friday, the 31st at 9:30 p.m., there will be a draw to determine the order of participation in the selection galas for the children’s queen, adult queen, and the senior queen.
