The Cabildo of Tenerife has allocated €5.1 million for enhancement works on the TF-28 road, situated between La Centinela and La Camella, within the municipality of Arona; on the TF-334, which links Los Realejos, San Juan de la Rambla and La Guancha; as well as on the TF-215, connecting El Sauzal and La Matanza.
As communicated this Sunday by the Cabildo in a statement, these initiatives consist of the rehabilitation of the surface, enhancement of signage, slope stabilization and the upgrading of bus stops.
The Cabildo President, Rosa Dávila, articulated that “it is essential to enhance safety measures for users of the island’s roads, and these actions exemplify that commitment, particularly as these works have been requested by residents and local authorities.”
Dávila reminded that these efforts complement the work already completed on 38 roads across the island, which has seen an investment of nearly €1 million, incorporating the stabilization of slopes and embankments.
The Minister for Highways, Dámaso Arteaga, remarked that “an unparalleled effort is underway to ensure safety and enhance mobility on Tenerife’s roads.”
He emphasised that these actions “not only address longstanding requests from municipalities but are also integral to a strategic plan aimed at modernising and maintaining our island’s road infrastructure.”
The initial intervention will occur on the TF-28 highway, between La Centinela and La Camella, with a budget of €1.6 million and an execution timeframe of five months. This includes the rehabilitation of the surface, installation of barriers for slope security, enhancement of the drainage system and horizontal signage. Additionally, four bus stops will undergo renovations in Valle de San Lorenzo, El Hornito, Las Flores and La Florida.
On the TF-334 road, connecting Los Realejos to San Juan de la Rambla and La Guancha, works will involve pavement rehabilitation, reconstruction of drainage ditches and a thorough overhaul of both horizontal and vertical signage, with an investment of €1.3 million over a duration of eight months.
For the TF-215 connecting El Sauzal and La Matanza, the undertaking encompasses resurfacing works and enhancements to road edges to assure greater pedestrian safety, in addition to the renovation of seven bus stops. This project is set for completion within six months and involves an investment of €1.2 million.
These initiatives are further supplemented by an additional project exceeding €1 million dedicated to the rehabilitation of signage and improving visibility on worn-out roads, alongside a recent investment of €30 million in the Southern Highway (TF-1), particularly in the sections of Arico, Fasnia and Güímar, according to the statement.
Moreover, the Cabildo has issued tenders for a total of 38 safety enhancement projects and the refurbishment of roads across the island.
