This Sunday, January 26, three municipalities in Tenerife will commemorate their pilgrimages, all dedicated to San Antonio Abad and, in the case of Florida in La Orotava, to the Virgin of La Esperanza. The other two festive events will occur in Güímar and Buenavista del Norte.
In the Orotavense district, the festivities will commence a day earlier with the preparation of the traditional stew, which has evolved over the years into one of the most prominent culinary events in the Archipelago.
The festivities in La Florida have been designated as Tourist Interest of the Canary Islands. The programme of events kicked off in mid-January and will reach its peak next Sunday the 26th with the 42nd Pilgrimage in honour of the patron saints, an occasion that enjoys significant participation from both pilgrims and the general public.
On the same day, Güímar will hold its traditional pilgrimage, characterised as one of the most vibrant and lively events in the municipality, commencing after the Eucharist and blessing of livestock. Following this, the Verbenita of San Antonio Abad will take place, featuring performances from Los Ideales, Duo Guarapo, Falo, Duo Kandela, and Pánfilo.
Lastly, Buenavista del Norte will be adorned to celebrate its pilgrimage, which will weave through the main streets of the municipality starting at 2:00 p.m. At the conclusion, a dance for the pilgrims will take place, with music provided by the orchestras Malibú Band and Toke Latino.
