The assessment reveals that, on average, 12% of the Island’s population comprises individuals with disabilities across various categories, including physical, intellectual, auditory, and sensory impairments. The institutional agreement reached yesterday during the Plenary Commission of Social Action of the Cabildo of Tenerife is focused on this demographic. This initiative was prompted by a motion introduced by the Socialist Group, championed by councillor Nauzet Gugliotta, seeking to incorporate these individuals into social tourism programmes akin to those designed for the elderly. The Institute of Social and Socio-Health Care (IASS) will spearhead a project to be carried out in partnership with the island’s local councils and social organisations that support individuals in this group.
