Fuerza Canaria has taken some time to address the governmental turmoil that has arisen in Arona following Mayor Fátima Lemes Reverón’s dismissal of the Más por Arona councillors. This party’s guiding principle is to act in the general interest and maintain political moderation, steering clear of exploiting the situation that has unfolded.
From the outset, this party, led by its president Mohamed Jamil Derbah, acknowledges the mayor’s authority in making such decisions but believes these dismissals are unjustified, particularly after a year and seven months of governance. This conclusion suggests that the tripartite coalition was not functioning as it should, necessitating such a drastic step due to a prevailing sense of stagnation and lack of progress within the City Council.
Fuerza Canaria is committed to the betterment of the municipality and anticipates that the mayor will rectify the situation, whether through negotiations or coalition-building, especially considering the current imbalance where there are more opposition councillors than those in government. We urge this course of action, as there is considerable apprehension among citizens from all sectors who are wary of the impending return to a state of deadlock, reminiscent of the previous legislature with the socialists and the now-former Más por Arona councillors.
Fuerza Canaria, within its capacity and resources, is eager to assist in cultivating a stable governance for the municipality. It stands ready to collaborate with all parties to ensure that the municipality progresses, aiming for a functional City Council that prioritises the needs of its residents, who rightfully deserve all necessary efforts for their welfare.
