SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Jan. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, stated this Wednesday that “agreement is still being finalised” with the Government of the Canary Islands concerning the ultimate version of the Master Plan for the Use and Management of the Teide National Park (PRUG). The modifications agreed upon are currently being processed, and once they are incorporated into the document, they will be presented to the Board of Trustees of the National Park for subsequent approval.
“The new governing team of the Cabildo had disagreements with regard to the previous PRUG document… Now, it is a matter of resolving differences or elements where consensus was lacking concerning that document, which was established by the prior administration—both the regional government and the Cabildo,” the island president remarked at a press conference based on governmental council agreements.
Furthermore, Dávila confirmed that “all this work” has been ongoing, progressively, over recent months, and when “there is a mutually accepted document,” it will be presented to the Board of Trustees of the Teide National Park for subsequent approval by the Government of the Canary Islands.
She highlighted the negotiations concerning issues outlined in the earlier document, such as the clause that “categorically prohibited the filming of commercials and movies within the Park that were not aimed at promoting it for scientific purposes”: “We, along with the current Government of the Canary Islands, do not concur with that. Thus, we need to rephrase it and determine to what degree and how this activity can be conducted.”
“There are numerous aspects that have been refined to ensure a mutually agreed text, where the conservation and safeguarding of the Park is never called into question,” concluded Dávila, who, although she did not set deadlines, indicated that they are “in the final stretch.”
