Officers from the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife have apprehended a 46-year-old individual who attempted to escape in a vehicle displaying two sets of overlapping registration plates. Inside the vehicle were a rifle, an axe, a machete, a carbine, and a compressed air pistol, along with police tactical gear, pharmaceuticals and tools.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:00 p.m. last Sunday when the Local Police were alerted by a neighbour who observed the suspect wielding a machete in a public space, as municipal sources reported on Wednesday.
The individual, identified as JMCG, was arrested on Domingo Pisaca Burgada Street, close to Cuesta Piedra, as he attempted to flee in his vehicle.
Upon identification, officers discovered that the vehicle bore registration plates belonging to a different vehicle, which were superimposed over the original plates.
During the security sweep, a significant machete concealed in a holster on his back was confiscated, along with two pepper sprays and two knives.
Additionally, within the vehicle, multiple bags containing a .22 calibre rifle, a carbine, and a compressed air pistol were found, for which the suspect could not present any licence or permit.
A more thorough search revealed a large quantity of medications in a backpack, along with masks and face shields, protective textile clothing, various items of police tactical equipment, mini video recorders, torches, and tools including pliers, a grinder, a sledgehammer, screwdrivers, and a goat’s leg.
The detained individual has been handed over to the judicial authority, as detailed by the sources.
