The Cabildo of Tenerife, through its Highways department, is set to commence improvements and rehabilitation works on the TF-344 road, specifically between San Juan de la Rambla and La Guancha. The undertaking has been awarded to the construction company Construcciones Darias and entails an investment of €1.3 million, with a completion timeframe of eight months.
Dámaso Arteaga, the Minister for Highways, stated that these works will bring about a considerable enhancement in safety and comfort for users navigating a road that experiences a high volume of traffic.
The project includes the demolition and reconstruction of longitudinal drainage systems (gutters) across the entire stretch; removal of unnecessary existing ditches; installation of passable gutters, grates, or pipes in areas leading to streets, residences, or parcels; erection of screens in all segments with a gradient exceeding 1.5 metres; and the replacement of horizontal signage along with the installation of vertical signage.

Furthermore, the Cabildo has announced that they have recently put out to tender a total of 38 projects aimed at enhancing safety measures and rehabilitating the pavement on the island’s roadways. These initiatives include resurfacing the pavement, improving drainage systems, as well as the installation of signage, beacons, and road barriers. Additionally, the projects involve slope and embankment stabilisation works on various roads of interest across the island. The overall contract values exceed €700,000.
Dámaso Arteaga emphasised that “with this set of more than 30 projects, we will be able to tackle, throughout 2025, the improvement works required by many of the road sections on the island. We are discussing the resurfacing of road surfaces and finding solutions for some of the most hazardous slopes.”
