SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 20 Jan (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Canarian Coalition (CC) has called upon the PSOE this Monday to establish a timeline to assess the extent to which the State Government is adhering to the ‘Canarian agenda’, given that the socialists “continue to postpone” a follow-up meeting deemed “essential”.
In this regard, the Secretary of Organisation, David Toledo, reminded that it was the president himself, Pedro Sánchez, who “made a commitment in the Congress of Deputies to convene a meeting in January following the request from the Coalition spokesperson, Cristina Valido,” and he stated that “up until now, the PSOE has not reached out to the Canarian nationalists to arrange a date.”
He further asserted that what they are “certain” of is that “the Canary Islands is not a priority for the PSOE,” just as he noted, “neither is the ‘Canarian agenda’ nor the humanitarian crisis that has persisted for over a year in the archipelago a priority.”
Nevertheless, he recalled that “the ‘Canarian agenda’ which is advocated by the nationalists and endorsed by the PSOE and the Government of Pedro Sánchez encompasses matters of critical importance for the everyday life of the Canary Islands”, including those related to the implementation of measures aimed at addressing remoteness, insularity, and fostering social and economic cohesion. It also includes a solidarity policy concerning the management of migration and provisions directed at the recovery of La Palma, which the Canarian nationalists wish to bring forward for review.
