Princess Leonor arrives in Tenerife on the Juan Sebastián Elcano
The training vessel is set to depart for Gran Canaria this Monday afternoon

Princess Leonor has now arrived in Tenerife. The young royal has docked alongside her shipmates from the Juan Sebastián Elcano at the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. She will stay on the island until Monday afternoon, when the vessel will set sail forGran Canaria.
The training shipJuan Sebastián Elcano reachedLos Llanos dock in Santa Cruz deTenerife just before nine o’clock in the morning, a mere six days after departing from theBay of Cadiz on its journey to theArchipelago.
Almost a week after theKings of Spain bid farewell at the port toPrincess Leonor, MinisterMargaret Robles, who oversees theDefence portfolio, was met with loud cheers from those who attended the departure of the XCVII training cruise, where the heir to the Spanish throne is receiving her training.

As is customary for the crew upon arrival at port, the Princess stepped to the railing to greet the crowd gathered on the dock.
In preparation for the ship’s arrival, the Port Authority had organised an event, and early in the morning, the first onlookers began to arrive to witness the docking up close.
Activities Planned
Upon stepping onto land, Captain and Commander of the Juan Sebastián Elcano, Luis Carreras, shared details of the activities planned for the island in the upcoming days. “We will engage in social, cultural and institutional visits during this period,” he mentioned, adding that “sailors will have the freedom to explore the city at each port.”
The Day
Initially, the crew’s first land engagement will involve a visit to the Almeida museum scheduled for Friday morning. “We are thrilled to be in Santa Cruz and to explore the islands. As you are aware, Spanish navigators have frequented these waters for centuries,” added Carreras.
This marks the 62nd visit by the ship to Santa Cruz, now with 240 personnel on board, which includes just over 30 women. “We are replenishing ourselves with the vibrant energy of the Canaries before embarking on the ocean journey,” concluded the Captain.
