SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 17th January (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez, attended the reception for authorities held by the School Ship ‘Juan Sebastián Elcano’ this past Friday, which is currently docked along the coast of Tenerife. She welcomed Princess Leonor, who is undertaking her naval training aboard the vessel.
“The arrival of this historic ship holds significant importance for the Canary Islands, as we eagerly anticipate its visit each year. This time, it is even more special with Princess Doña Leonor joining the trainee cadets. It is a privilege to host the daughter of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia at such a notable event,” the president remarked in a statement.
Princess Leonor was able to set foot on land this Friday in Tenerife after nearly a week at sea. Together with her fellow midshipmen participating in the 97th training cruise, she explored some of the most iconic sites in the capital of the island.
