One of the eight frogs that embellish the Santa Cruz Plaza de Los Patos has been decapitated. This latest act of vandalism against urban heritage has been denounced by the mayor of the capital, José Manuel Bermúdez.

The council leader stated yesterday on social media, “I am profoundly saddened and condemn these acts of vandalism against our heritage. We strive daily to make progress, and these incidents not only harm what belongs to everyone but also compel us to allocate funds for repairs.” He further asserted, “As we have done in the past, we will work relentlessly to identify the individual responsible for these actions. Vandalism will never triumph over those of us who desire a better Santa Cruz.”

According to local witnesses, the cause of this incident may have stemmed from a firecracker that was placed in the figure’s mouth, from which water was emitted.
