Nueva Canarias (NC) blames the municipal authorities (PSOE, CC and PP) for hindering the walkway between El Pris and Mesa del Mar, as well as “purposefully obstructing the advancement of coastal initiatives.” Their spokesperson, José Daniel Díaz, claims that “the absence of proper management and the obstruction of necessary investments render it impracticable”, notwithstanding the fact that it represents “the most significant investment in the coasts of Tacoronte in its history, managed by NC during the previous local administration. There are eight million “that are now left in limbo.”
The uncertainty surrounding this endeavour relies on “the mismanagement of the current officials, who hinder the procurement of the land required to construct the Mesa del Mar pumping station and the pipeline that will transport the impulse tube to the station in El Pris, an essential prerequisite to also resolve the swimming pool and sewage issues in both coastal regions; without that land, it is impossible to implement the project, and they are aware of it. The council member criticises the governing coalition for “placing all manner of obstacles and difficulties to prevent its realisation.” We are starting to suspect that there is some utterly dubious interest in obstructing the most crucial strategic investment for Tacoronte,” adds Díaz.
The spokesperson for NC emphasises that in the most recent plenary meeting, the municipal authorities “voted against maintaining the safety net on the La Arena and Mesa del Mar beaches, which is excluded from the 2025 Budget, and they did not endorse either.” the amendments that suggested it. Moreover, from PSOE, CC and PP “the acquisition of land to facilitate the coastal walk was denied support, and they also hindered the advancement of the technical documents and the political actions necessary for this project to progress.”
In addition to the departments of Urban Planning, Heritage, and Sanitation, José Daniel Díaz refers to “the accountability of a mayor who is more preoccupied with her photos at social events, market stalls, and festivals while continuing to ignore the municipality’s problems.”
