Arafo progresses in addressing the issue of insecurity observed around the public educational institution situated in the urban vicinity of the municipality. In this context, the Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Canary Islands Government, through the Vice-Ministry of Infrastructure, has sanctioned the allocation of a one million euro grant to the City Council to support the implementation of the Perimeter Street initiative.
This represents a crucial infrastructure to streamline traffic in the vicinity of the sports centre and the Compulsory Education Centre (CEO) Andrés Orozco.
Thus, the Arafo City Council will be poised to commence necessary construction works to establish a route circumventing these facilities, enhancing mobility in the region and bolstering the safety of pedestrians, particularly the students and users of the future sports centre.
This work signifies a substantial advance for safety in the educational centre’s surroundings
The regional Minister of Public Works, Pablo Rodríguez, who convened with the mayor of Arafo, Juan Ramón Martín, emphasised that this initiative “marks considerable progress in ensuring the safety of the area while optimising traffic flow and security. All of this is particularly focused on safeguarding the welfare of the minors attending the school.”
The project is required to be finalised before December 31, 2025, establishing a maximum timeframe of four months for the justification of the grant once completed.
