The La Orotava City Council announced yesterday via its Facebook page that the town centre will transform into a filming location this Saturday. Specifically, the municipality will host the filming of the renowned American series NCIS: Los Angeles, which follows a team of agents from the United States Navy Criminal Investigative Service.
The shoot will necessitate various traffic alterations around the central Plaza de La Constitución. As stated by the city council, this will involve the suspension of parking from this Friday along the Puente Escultor Estévez, Calvario Street (from the bridge to Canarias Avenue), Cantos Canarios Street, and the Lercaro car park.
On Saturday, vehicular access will be restricted to the Plaza de La Constitución and the Escultor Estévez Bridge, as well as to pedestrian entry points to the plaza and the Victoria Gardens.
La Orotava is not the sole site selected by the production team in the northern region of the island for filming this North American series; just days ago, they were also capturing scenes in the municipality of Icod de los Vinos, particularly in the Parque del Drago.
NCIS (titled Navy: Criminal Investigation in Spain, and aired on AXN) debuted in September 2003 and is a television series broadcast on the American network CBS.
This is not the first occasion La Orotava has served as a filming location; in 2019, it accommodated part of the production for the Spanish series La Templanza, adapted from the novel of the same name by María Dueñas.
