The breach of the agreement in Arona’s municipal governmentafter mayor Fátima Lemes has dismissedthis Wednesday four councilors from Más por Arona, has caused significant uproar.
The other party impacted by this decision, Canarian Coalition (CC), which intends to continue supporting the accord that VOX will join, sought to distance themselves from this action, stating that they have consistently aimed to ensure institutional stability and advocate for the municipality.
“From the Canarian Coalition of Arona, we wish to inform the citizens regarding our stance following the breakdown of the agreement within the government formed by the Popular Party, the Canary Coalition, and Más por Arona, an alliance created to secure institutional stability and promote the municipality’s development,” they began in a statement.
In this document, CC clarifies that this is a decision taken by the mayor, Fátima Lemes Reverón, within her assigned duties. “The Arona Canarian Coalition has not been involved in this choice” they emphasise.
“Our stance remains unchanged since the inception of the agreement. We have acted responsibly, respectfully, and loyally in upholding the agreements that were established. Additionally, our role at all times has been to seek consensus through dialogue and collaboration as tools to foster the management of our municipality, consistently prioritising the collective interest over internal disagreements.”
