La Laguna, located in the North of Tenerife, has officially reached a point of congestion at its airport for the first time. The facility has become inadequate due to the substantial rise in travellers in recent years. This is not mere speculation; the reality is substantiated by the statistics released yesterday by Aena, the public-private entity responsible for managing airport operations across Spain. Also recognised as Los Rodeos, it accommodated nearly 6.8 million passengers in 2024 (6,762,702 according to the most recent official report), marking the highest number in its history, surpassing the maximum annual capacity established by Aena by 262,702.
