The Governing Board of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has granted the contract for the project to enhance the solarium areas on Las Teresitas beach to PICCONIA GEST, SL. This initiative involves the use of floating platforms at sea to assist individuals with special needs.
Access for individuals with varying abilities will also be linked via floating platforms from the main walkway to the newly established terrace kiosks, as stated by the City Council this past Sunday.
The project, covering accesses 1, 5, 7, and 10, has a budget of 98,440 euros and is expected to be completed within three months.
At accesses 1 and 10 of the beach, the area of the external platforms will be enlarged using Finnish pine timber boards.
In access 1, an additional 26 m² will be added, resulting in a total area of 36.36 m², while access 10 will see an extension of the platform by 48.05 m².
These enhancements will facilitate the installation of accessible changing facilities and railings, aiding safe access for the public to the lavatories, the report specifies.
At access 5, a floating walkway will be constructed to connect the existing walkway with the kiosks situated on the sand, ensuring an accessible route for individuals with reduced mobility or functional diversity.
Lastly, at access 7, two floating platforms measuring 10 by 10 meters each will be established, intended for solarium use, which will feature tents designed to match the specifications of those currently found in other parts of the beach.
