Search Efforts Intensify for Missing María del Mar Velázquez in the Canary Islands

The search for María del Mar Velázquez Luis, a 56-year-old woman reported missing in Tenerife since December 23, remains ongoing but has yet to yield conclusive results. She was last seen after visiting her mother at the University Hospital of Canary Islands (HUC). As per her family’s account, upon leaving the hospital, she boarded bus line 108 heading towards Icod of the Wines, but she never arrived at her intended destination.

The initial clue was discovered in Icod the Tall in Los Realejos, where a 15-year-old girl stumbled upon her transport voucher. A few days later, her bag containing various items (a sweater, tattoo cream, and weight loss supplements) was found in a nearby overgrown area. These discoveries prompted an extensive search in a nearby ravine, aided by drones and specially trained dogs.
