In December, the water levels across the 23 reservoirs in the Balten network in Tenerife saw a slight increase, rising from 30% to 38.4% of their total capacity. This equates to 1,935,780 cubic metres out of an overall 5,043,037 as of 1 January 2025, compared to 1,514,988 on 1 December 2024. This upward trend is encouraging, especially considering that on 1 November, the levels had only reached 21.3%, or 1,076,490 cubic metres. This indicates an additional contribution of nearly a million cubic metres, primarily from treated water. It is also worth noting that there was some rainfall recorded last month, alongside a significant snowfall – which is unique to this winter season – in the mountainous regions of the Island on Sunday, 22 December.
