SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Jan. 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, confirmed on Wednesday that he will convene in Madrid tomorrow Thursday, commencing at 7:30 a.m. at the ministerial headquarters, with the Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, to scrutinise the draft decree law concerning the exceptional allocation of unaccompanied migrant minors.
In remarks to the press, he expressed his “hope” that the minister will present a document, which could either be the one forwarded by the Canary Islands with amendments or suggestions from the State Attorney’s Office, or any other “alternative” as he feels “somewhat weary” of the absence of explicit proposals from the central government.
The president of the Canary Islands clarified that “everything” that has been established and proposed regarding immigration has originated from the Government of the Canary Islands and has been scrutinised under the Canary Islands Migration Pact. Following the sending of the draft on December 17, there has been no feedback.
“The reality is that, in light of this endeavour, the only responses we receive are vague; we are uncertain, let’s see if we can meet. I hope that tomorrow at half past seven in the morning, when we have planned to convene at the ministry, we can finally obtain a response,” he commented.
