The Cabildo of Tenerife on Thursday reminded everyone of the ban on traffic in areas impacted by the significant fire of 2023 due to the hazards posed by falling trees and landslides.
This condition could worsen due to the pre-alert for winds that will impact the island of Tenerife starting at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3, which has been issued by the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, informed by the forecasts of Aemet and other relevant sources.

Winds are anticipated to come from the southeast, with average speeds of 20-40 km/h. This will create local accelerations in sheltered areas, resulting in possible gusts that could reach or surpass 50-70 km/h.
For Tenerife, the wind will impact the municipalities of Arona, Adeje, Guía de Isora, Santiago del Teide, Tegueste, as well as the highlands and midlands of Santa Úrsula, La Victoria, La Matanza, El Sauzal, and Tacoronte, including the northern slopes of La Laguna and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Consequently, the areas affected by the 2023 fire include the slopes of Tigaiga and Santa Úrsula, along with other locations housing radiata pines that were affected by the blaze situated in the central region of La Orotava Valley, specifically on Pista El Rayo from La Victoria to Santa Úrsula, the track section from El Rincón to Rayo, and the Hoya del Abade recreational area.
Furthermore, residents are urged to take extreme precautions in mountainous regions accessible to vehicles and to refrain from lighting fires outside designated areas to prevent forest fires.
