This Monday, the City Council of Puerto de la Cruz announced that the traditional New Year’s Eve festivities will be relocated to the Customs House, “ensuring a joyful and secure environment for all.” “This decision is in response to the necessity of mitigating risks associated with the potential collapse of debris from the old Banco Exterior building, which is why a safer and more accessible venue has been selected,” as stated by the local Town Hall. This site is situated opposite Plaza del Charco, which has historically been the location for New Year’s Eve celebrations.
From 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m., attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a diverse musical programme featuring a DJ and live performances from the Orquesta Ochentera, Orquesta Teymar, and Orquesta Swing Latino.
The highlight of the evening will occur at midnight, when residents of Porto, along with visitors and onlookers, come together to usher in the new year. At this moment, the 12 chimes will be displayed on a large screen to welcome the year 2025.
The Customs House “will serve as the festive hub of Puerto de la Cruz, where everyone is invited to celebrate collectively,” emphasised the town hall.
