The Folk Fest Arona embraces the festive spirit of this season, infusing the bay of Los Cristianos with Christmas cheer through its craft and gastronomy fair, which has been transformed into a Christmas Market. This market is open for visitors every afternoon, starting from 4:00 p.m., until the following Monday, adjacent to the Plaza de la Fisherwoman.
The Christmas feature of this event, organised by the Tourist Board of the Arona City Council under the leadership of Councillor Dácil León, commenced on Thursday with the inauguration of the aforementioned Christmas Market, accompanied by a captivating performance from the Verodal Folk Group, showcasing a delightful Christmas theme.
This event, now in its fourteenth iteration, is held almost every Thursday from October 2024 through to the end of March 2025. It highlights prestigious folk groups from the municipality such as I’Gara, Verodal, Punta Rasca, and Herederos de Chasna, alongside a Crafts and Gastronomy Fair that showcases traditional Canarian products.
Dácil León noted that this initiative enjoys significant popularity among both tourists and local residents. “The local community knows that the show is worthwhile, due to the high quality of the groups involved, which has contributed to this festival’s international acclaim. Tourists, in particular, appreciate the chance to experience a genuine showcase of Canarian culture entirely free of charge and in an outdoor setting, all within the stunning Bay of Los Cristianos,” León remarked.
The proposal to extend the Christmas Craft Market beyond Thursdays “also offers an opportunity for both tourists and locals to purchase artisanal and Canarian Christmas gifts, whilst at the same time supporting our artisans by providing them with a strategic venue to showcase their products during this peak gift-giving season,” commented the Tourism Councillor of Arona.
