The Tenerife tram will maintain Line 1 in full operation on the evening of Tuesday, December 31, New Year’s Eve until Wednesday, January 1, the New Year, with intervals of 15 and 20 minutes.
From 11:00 p.m., trams will conclude their service at the Guimerá Theater stop in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This decision has been made to avoid traversing the areas surrounding Plaza de España and the Church of La Concepción, where festivities are taking place.
Tram Timetables on New Year’s Eve
On Tuesday, the 31st, Line 1 will operate with a frequency of 6 minutes during peak hours, which are from 07:00 to 15:00. Subsequently, the intervals will adjust to 7.5 minutes and then extend to 10 minutes until 9:00 p.m. After that, the tram services will shift to every 15 and 20 minutes during New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Furthermore, the night service on Line 1 will have its route shortened to Teatro Guimerá to prevent interference with the celebratory events held at Plaza de España and the Church of La Concepción. Consequently, from 11:00 p.m., this will be the final stop for Line 1 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, while the stops at Fundación and Intercambiador will be out of service.
For Line 2, the frequencies on Tuesday the 31st will be set at 12, 15, and 20 minutes until service ceases at midnight (00:00 hours).
Tram Timetables on New Year’s Day
Trams on Line 1 will be operational throughout the early hours of Wednesday, January 1. It is anticipated that full service will resume along the entire route by 9:40 a.m. that day, thereby reintroducing the stops at Fundación and Intercambiador in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The service frequencies on this day will follow the typical holiday schedule, namely, 12, 15, and 30 minutes, depending on the specific time frame.
It is worth noting that services may be affected by the strikes conducted by the company’s employees from Monday to Friday, during early mornings, midday, and night. During these times, Metrotenerife will guarantee the operation of lines 1 and 2 with a minimum service level of 80%.
