PSOE Tenerife Seeks Cabildo’s Backing for Event Featuring Influencer Pedro Buerbaum

The Socialist Group within the Tenerife Cabildo is set to demand from the island authority the details regarding the sponsorship or funding that the administration led by Rosa Dávila (Canary Coalition) has allocated to the event known as Proyectea Rooms. This occasion will feature the notable Pedro Buerbaum, a figure who reportedly supports the eradication of taxes and has expressed plans to relocate to the Dominican Republic.

In a statement, the political faction expressed its desire to ascertain whether public funds have been sourced from these same taxes to finance both the event and Buerbaum’s participation.

All sponsors associated with the event comprise public entities, including three departments from the Canary Islands Government of the PP, the Cabildo of Tenerife, and the Santa Cruz City Council.

Among the various departments of the Cabildo of Tenerife, socialist councillor Marián Franquet specifically emphasised Sinpromi (Insular Society for the Promotion of People with Disabilities). In this regard, Franquet confirmed that she would inquire with the governing group about the connection this speaker has with the disabled community in Tenerife, as well as his contributions to this group and the organisation itself.

The socialist councillor reminded that “this isn’t the first of the controversies” surrounding the current island government’s handling of public resources allocated to prominent individuals. On November 23, 2023, David Cánovas, known as TheGrefg, was involved in the initial incident after taking several photos with the island’s president, Rosa Dávila, and featured in a climb up Teide while circumventing the established regulations for this activity, insisting they had special permission from the governing body.

These occurrences prompted a public denunciation by the Socialist Group and the call for the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife to provide explanations, which took place in February of this year.

Furthermore, last October, there was a budget modification of 1.2 million euros which, among other initiatives, funded an event promoted by “TheGrefg”.
