The Cabildo, via tourism Tenerife, has launched the third edition of the Tenerife es tuya awareness campaign for tourists. This initiative, which commenced at the close of last November, is set to continue until 15 July 2025, offering 40 complimentary activities and routes across the Island, targeting vulnerable groups, the elderly, as well as volunteers and members of NGOs.
The primary aim is to introduce tourism and sustainable practices within the sector to the local community through engaging in cultural routes, hiking and various activities in the natural settings of Tenerife.
This initiative involves tourism enterprises committed to the charters aimed at sustainability for the Island, along with the Professional Association of Tourist Guides (APIT Tenerife).
The campaign forms part of the strategic plan for tourism in Tenerife, specifically addressing the efforts to raise awareness and understanding of values in line with the United Nations SDGs and the 2030 Agenda, in addition to adhering to the Biosphere sustainable tourism certification, which focuses on economic, social and environmental sustainability.
The 40 planned activities encompass tours of historical centres such as Garachico, La Orotava or La Laguna, as well as cultural trails through El Sauzal, La Matanza or Santa Úrsula. Panoramic trips to the Teide National Park and the rural areas of Anaga and Teno are also included; performances aimed at exploring traditional life and customs or botany through theatre, as well as delving into the island’s religious and Marian heritage. There are also trails specifically designed to deepen understanding of Tenerife’s night sky, its culinary offerings, and opportunities for whale watching on the schedule.
These activities, organised in groups of 15 to 20 individuals, aim to enhance the knowledge of the local business and dining scene in the areas visited, thereby encouraging local consumption while maintaining a connection to the landscape and its preservation.
