Maritime Rescue intercepted three additional canoes this Friday morning in waters adjacent to the island of El Hierro, carrying a total of 101 unauthorised migrants, all of whom were males.
This information was provided to Europa Press by sources from the national agency, who mentioned that at 8:15 a.m., the vessel Salvamar Adhara located an irregular boat with 32 individuals on board.
Shortly thereafter, around 8:55 a.m., the Salvamar Acrux intercepted another canoe with eight people, and at 09:36, another vessel was discovered containing 63 occupants.
All individuals were transported to La Restinga Pier, where they received assistance from the usual healthcare teams comprising the Red Cross and the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), and they were all reportedly in good health.
With these canoes, the total number of migrants arriving in the Canary Islands has reached 977 over the course of 18 boats within just two days, from the early hours of this Wednesday, Christmas Day, until 12:00 p.m. this Friday.
