Celebrating Tradition: Three Kings Fairs Unite 80 Artisans in Tenerife

The Cabildo of Tenerife is organising the Crafts Fair in Reyes, scheduled to occur at the Plaza del Príncipe in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, similar to the Christmas Craft Market, which will be hosted at the Plaza del Adelantado in La Laguna.

Both occasions will be accessible to the public until January 5, aimed at fostering the promotion of both traditional and contemporary crafts.

The primary event showcases 46 artisans, presenting 29 different crafts, whereas La Laguna will feature 31 artisans with 23 distinctive crafts.

The events were unveiled this Monday during a press conference attended by the Minister of Employment and Education, Efraín Medina; the mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez; the Councillor for Promotion and Local Development, Domingo Galván; and the manager of the Insular Crafts Company, Ricardo Cologan.

Efraín Medina expressed gratitude to the municipalities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna, along with the team that has diligently worked to bring these fairs to fruition.

“I take great pride in the work accomplished. The craftsmanship of Tenerife holds an esteemed status, and the recognition we received last week, where our candidacy secured second place in the National Crafts Awards, speaks volumes,” he remarked.

José Manuel Bermúdez congratulated the Cabildo for organising the craft event, emphasising that the City Council places “great significance” on craftsmanship during this season, augmenting the offering of the flea market. Within this offering, he remarked that “the fairs have established themselves as a true benchmark, operating for 27 years and providing products made with passion and dedication.”

Domingo Galván highlighted that “the fair is a pivotal event during these Christmas dates“, thanking the Council for “continuing to value the unique artisan product” which the Department has consistently “nurtured and endorsed.”

Crafts Fair in Reyes

The XXVII Crafts Fair in Reyes will transpire at the Plaza del Príncipe in Santa Cruz de Tenerife from January 2 to 5, 2025, featuring the participation of 46 artisans.

Thus, from the 2nd to the 4th, it will operate from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., while on January 5 it will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

Exhibitors holding the corresponding artisan card, issued by the Cabildo of Tenerife, will partake in the fair, selected through a call that emphasised professionalism in artisan activity.

This edition will present visitors with a corresponding assortment of 29 artisan modalities: Patchwork, Ceramics, Fabric decoration, Bookbinding, Felt, Frivolité, Crochet, Printing and Engraving, Musical instruments, Soap making, Jewellery, Toy making, Macramé, Leather goods, Modelling, Dressmaking, Doll making, Paper and cardboard, Material recycling, Traditional costumes, Woodturning, as well as traditional forms of Pottery, Embroidery, Openwork, Traditional Carpentry, Cutlery, Cigars, Rosettes, and Weaving.

Christmas Craft Market

Simultaneously, the XVI Christmas Craft Market will take place in the Adelantado Square and will feature exhibitors selected according to a call that prioritised professionalism in artisan activity.

This edition will present the public with a production across 23 artisanal modalities: Pottery, Almazuelas, Carpentry, Ceramics, Ceremonial items, Fabric decoration, Enamels, Felt, Crochet, Jewellery, Macramé, Leather goods, Modelling, Dressmaking, Miniatures, Doll making, Paper and Cardboard, Material recycling, Woodturning, and glass making, in addition to traditional Carpentry, Weaving, and Openwork.

The schedule will mirror that of the fair in the capital, according to a statement from the Cabildo.

In both fairs, selected artisan exhibitors will showcase their own production, ensuring quality and sufficient volume throughout the Fair’s duration.

Additionally, the Insular Crafts Company will provide information, maintenance, packaging, and card payment services to facilitate purchases at both fairs.
