The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands announced yesterday that it will open the access and exit system from the TF-1 motorway at the Las Chafiras and Oroteanda exits today (heading towards the Americas). This measure is supplementary to the commissioning of the exit branch towards Oroteanda that took place last November, as well as the opening of access to the collector road for vehicles coming from San Miguel towards Playa de Las Américas, on December 9th.
The general director of Road Infrastructure, Rosana Melián, stated yesterday that the inauguration of this new connection “marks a significant milestone in advancing this project, which is of great importance for mobility in Tenerife. This development highlights our dedication to enhancing the infrastructure and connectivity of the island, thereby enabling more efficient travel for both residents and visitors.”
The new Oroteanda link, situated at kilometre point 63.570 of the TF-1 motorway, is part of a comprehensive initiative aimed at boosting connectivity and alleviating traffic issues not only in the southern region of Tenerife but also promoting more sustainable mobility, aiding in the decongestion of the TF-1 and easing travel to Las Américas and other vital areas of the island, as noted by the Ministry of Public Works.
This action encompasses the section between kilometre points 62.040 and 64.540 of the TF-1, as well as adjacent secondary roads, such as TF-65, TF-652, and TF-655, alongside a section of the Las Chafiras urban road.
ELEVATED GORIETE
The new Las Chafiras interchange features a roundabout elevated above the main trunk of the TF-1, which is traversed by two circular overpasses. The TF-65 links to this roundabout as a transverse road axis (Los Abrigos–San Miguel); there are two branches leading to Santa Cruz and two collector-distributor roads heading south.
