The €37 million designated for the completion of the Insular Highway Ring, specifically for the segment currently under construction between El Tanque and Santiago del Teide, represents the most substantial infrastructure investment in Tenerife from the Government of the Canary Islands within the 2025 budget. This was highlighted yesterday by the Popular Party, which broadly outlined that the forthcoming regional budget will encompass an investment of €700 million aimed at the Island. Emilio Navarro, the insular president of the PP, emphasised that this figure denotes “an increase of €30 million compared to the budgets set during the flower pact legislature.
According to Luz Reverón, the spokesperson for the Popular Group in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, “90% of the regional budget will be allocated to enhancing healthcare, education, social expenditure, and initiatives in housing for all citizens of the Canary Islands, particularly those residing in Tenerife.” In terms of infrastructure, €11.3 million is earmarked for the third lane of the TF-5 between Tenerife Norte airport and La Orotava, alongside €8.4 million for the third lane of the TF-1 between San Isidro and Oroteanda. In the southern part of the island, €7.6 million has been allocated for the link with Las Chafiras and €6.3 million for the stretch between Fañabé and Los Cristianos. In the northern region, €4.3 million is allocated for the project to complete the Island Ring as it traverses San Juan de la Rambla and Icod de los Vinos.

In health-related matters, €4 million will be allocated for each of the island’s flagship hospitals (HUC and La Candelaria) and €2 million for the Hospital del Sur. Additionally, the Hospital del Norte will receive €700,000. Plans are also in place for the procurement of cutting-edge hospital equipment and improvements to the HUC generator sets, along with investments in primary care centres throughout the Island.
In the field of education, funds are allocated for infrastructure developments in institutions in El Médano and Las Chafiras, amounting to €1.5 million and €1.7 million, respectively. Furthermore, social spending provisions include €4 million for public housing construction, over €10 million for disability care services, €5.2 million for equipment aimed at supporting individuals, and €2.8 million for the Social and Health Infrastructure Plan.
